Components
The Candidate Handbook is an engaging approach that leads to thorough preparation for receiving and living a life anointed in the Spirit. The chapters of this book introduce the candidate to central aspects of the Confirmation liturgy and help them to explore the meaning of the sacrament. The material will help them to deepen your understanding of God’s call to you to live a life of faith and to explore the significance of being confirmed Catholic.
The Catechist Guide provides comprehensive support for catechists as they prepare the candidates for participating in, and reflecting on the sacrament. This catechist’s guide offers ten fully-designed 60- to 90-minute sessions. Sessions 1 through 8 prepare the participants to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Sessions 9 and 10 take place after the celebration and help the newly confirmed reflect on the meaning and significance of the celebration.
Sponsors serve in a unique role. They have a special opportunity to help candidates recognize God’s loving presence in their lives and to support and encourage them as they prepare for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit they will receive at Confirmation. This guide is designed to help them in their role as sponsor and in their relationship with the young candidate for Confirmation that they are sponsoring.
The Program Director Manual features a complete overview and all the relevant components necessary for facilitating a successful program, including: an overview of Anointed in the Spirit; tips for celebrating Confirmation with students in the context of parish life; guidelines for planning your Confirmation program; models for a variety of time frames and structures; a training session for catechists; an orientation session for parents; an orientation session for sponsors and candidates; instructions for leading a liturgy planning committee.
