for July 3

Saint Thomas was one of Jesus' Twelve Apostles. He is perhaps most known for the following remark: “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe” (John 20:25). This remark has caused Thomas to be remembered as Doubting Thomas. After witnessing the resurrected Jesus, Thomas proclaimed unequivocally his belief in and devotion to Jesus, his Lord.

Reflection

Saint Thomas, one of Jesus' handpicked Twelve Apostles, sometimes doubted the truth of his faith. Having doubts can motivate us to seek out meaningful answers to our important questions. Do you seek the truth if you have doubts? Do you realize that if you have doubts, the Lord still loves you, and wants to bring you to the right path?

Prayer

Dear Jesus, help me to know that, even if I have doubts, you still love me desperately. Help me to seek the truth if I have doubts, and to share the true faith with those who have doubts.
