And now bless the God of all,
who everywhere works great
wonders,
who fosters our growth from birth,
and deals with us according to his
mercy.
(Sirach 50:22)
Blessing God and being thankful are two of the most important attitudes of a Christian. Our most important prayer, the Eucharist, is a great prayer of thanksgiving to God for all the gifts we have received--which is why many churches have special masses on Thanksgiving Day. During this time of year, we are reminded to be thankful for all the material blessings we have. Even more important are the blessings that we cannot see or eat at a Thanksgiving feast. As a way of blessing God, thank someone who has been an important part of your life. Try to be as specific as possible.
Spend time today thinking about all you have been given without any effort on your part. Pray your own prayer of thanksgiving to God. Commit to blessing God regularly in your prayers.
