Unchurched Teens: Teens Who Don't Profess Church Affiliation Rises
About this article
Since 1990, there has been a dramatic increase in the number teens who are unchurched.
According to a 2002 study the number of teens with no religious affiliation has risen by over 15 million young people since 1990. That is an average increase of over 1.15 million young people annually.
When presented with such statistics, I ask questions. Has there been an increase in the number of un-churched immigrants? Are families that have never gone to church finally admitting that to researchers? Are families and young people, for whatever reason, leaving their church communities? It is troubling.
Regardless of the answer to these questions, the fact remains that nearly 30 million teenagers do not profess to be affiliated with any church.
