Thursday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Saint of the day

Saint Norbert (1080-1134)

Saint Norbert of the Rhineland was knocked off his horse and had an epiphany. He "became a sincere penitent, gave away all of his property to the poor, established the Order of Premonstratensians, and accepted the dignity of the Archbishop." (Taken from "Saints Passionate and Peculiar.")

Reflection

Saint Norbert of the Rhineland shows God's immense powers of transformation. In an instant, God can change a life. But, for most of us, conversion is slow and piecemeal. It is important to remember that the pace at which one follows God is less important than the dedication one has in following God.

Prayer

Dear God, please help me to know that you are working in my life.
