Friday of the Fourth Week of Advent

Saint of the day

Saint Adele (d.730)

Saint Adele was the daughter of King Dagobert II of Germany. She married and had a son, who would become the father of Saint Gregory of Utrecht. After the passing of her husband, and after she made arrangements to provide for her son, Adele became a nun. She established a convent at Palatiolum and became its first abbess. As abbess, Adele was a holy, prudent, and compassionate leader. She was also one of the first followers of Saint Boniface. Saint Adele passed on to her heavenly home in 730.

Reflection

Saint Adele reminds us that we need to always stay alert and open to God's plans for us. Even though we may be following one path, God may give us a new way to share our gifts and talents with others. Are you listening for God's call? Are you open to new ways of sharing your gifts and talents with others? Spend a few quiet minutes in prayer.

Prayer

Lord, you have a unique plan for each of us. Please help me to always listen for your call, and to go where you lead me.
