Saint Rusticus of Narbonne (d.462)

Saint Rusticus was born in Gaul and was the son of Bishop Bonosus. He developed the talent of preaching, and used his gift to share the Good News in Rome before entering monastic life in France. Rusticus was appointed bishop of Narbonne, France, during the spread of the Arian heresy in his diocese. He wanted to resign as bishop, but Pope Leo the Great persuaded him to continue. Rusticus took part in the Council of Ephesus, which denounced the heresy of Nestorianism. He also built the cathedral in Narbonne.

Reflection

Saint Rusticus is an excellent example of how our unique talents, skills, and interests can help us with our ministry. His talent of preaching was used to share the Good News in Rome, and to do good works as bishop of Narbonne. How can you use your special interests and skills in your ministry? Pray for the Lord's help in discerning your vocation, and discovering how you can use your unique talents to aid in your ministry.
