Tuesday of the Sixth Week of Easter

Saint of the day

Saint Epiphanius of Salamis (c.310-403)

Saint Epiphanius of Salamis was a man of many and great accomplishments. He was the founder of a Christian monastery while still very young, and served as abbot at that monastery for 30 years. He was then elected bishop in Cyprus for another 30 years or so. However, Epiphanius had a wild streak. He was often immoderate, not tactful, not discreet, and fiery in temper. Saint Epiphanius of Salamis is a saint that many of us can relate to, because many of us can be justly accused of the same vices. (Taken from "Saints Passionate and Peculiar.")

Reflection

Saint Epiphanius of Salamis is an important saint because he reminds us today that we have the capacity for holiness in spite of our many vices. If Saint Epiphanius can deeply know God, become a saint, and provide an example for posterity, then so can we. Take time to think about what your life would be like if you were a saint.

Prayer

Dear God, please make me a saint.
