Saturday of the Fourth Week in Lent
Saint of the day
Saint Julian of Antioch (d.305)
Saint Julian of Antioch was born in what is today Turkey. He was a high-ranking Christian during the persecutions of Diocletian. He was arrested and exhibited in neighboring cities. He was publicly tortured to influence Christians to renounce their faith. Even though he was subjected to terrible abuse, Julian remained devout and strong in his faith. He was eventually martyred by being sewn into a sack of vipers and scorpions and tossed into the sea. The relics of Saint Julian are enshrined in Antioch.
Reflection
Spend a few minutes reflecting on what it means to be a witness of your faith. Would you have the courage to die for your faith? (Taken from “Good News Day by Day: Bible Reflections for Teens.”)
Prayer
Loving God, people today are still being persecuted for their belief in you. Thank you for the witness of so many brave and noble people who gave their lives to profess their faith in you. Strengthen my courage so that I can live as you have called me to live. (Taken from “Good News Day by Day: Bible Reflections for Teens.”)
