Wednesday of the First Week in Lent
Saint of the day
Saint Wulfric (d.1154)
Saint Wulfric was an ordained priest, but continued to live a life that was dominated by parties with neighboring nobles and hunting excursions. After a chance meeting with a humble beggar, Wulfric realized the error of his ways and was determined to live a more holy life. He became a hermit and was known for his miracles and prophecies. He acted as counselor to Kings Henry I and Stephen, copied and bound books, and created items to be used in Mass.
Reflection
At first, Saint Wulfric was ordained into a holy order, but was still living a reckless life. We are sometimes like Saint Wulfric: our actions do not reflect how we say we are serving God. Have a conversation with the Lord. Ask him to help you further discern your vocation. Also, ask him to help your actions reflect how you are called to serve.
Prayer
Jesus Christ, I was clothed in your garment at Baptism. Continue to dress me for action as I proclaim your goodness through my life’s actions and words. (Taken from “Take Ten: Daily Bible Reflections for Teens.”)
