Challenges to Christian Spirituality

Minicourse Appropriate for Grades 11-12

Challenges to Christian Spirituality responds to two factors in the faith life of young people:

1. They have a natural curiosity about the unusual, the strange, and the bizarre.
2. Contemporary culture is rife with alternative religious practices that may tap into that adolescent curiosity: New Age, voodoo, crystals, cults, and more. Even mainline religions, with their tendencies toward fundamentalism or legalism, can test the faith of young people.

This course helps young people discern between healthy and unhealthy religious practices. It also offers them the support they need to pursue spiritual health in a complex and often confusing world.
