Prayers

Summer Sports Prayer
by Javier Bravo

Many students are involved in summer sports. The following prayer can be shared with any summer athlete to help them call to mind their faith and ask God for his grace as they engage in athletic competitions.

    Father,
Now that the school year is over, I am in a position where I am able to develop my athletic abilities through the sport(s) I will play this summer.
Give me the grace to strive to do my best, to practice hard, and to be a dedicated team member.
Help me to be an athlete of character, and in this way, be a witness to the love I have for you.
May I be always grateful for my victories and learn from my losses.
Grant that I may not be concerned only in my personal achievements but that I may do what I can to help others perform at their best as well.
    Amen.
