Lenten Season

Keeping Time Lent
by Steven McGlaun

Lent is approaching and presents to us a wonderful opportunity to invite young people into a daily rhythm of prayer. Through inviting students and faculty into a more intentional and focused daily payer experience during Lent we can both educate about them about Lent and prepare them for Easter. When I was a campus minister it was an annual struggle to find daily prayers for classes that were effective, worked with the flow of the school day and were accessible to both teacher and student.

Saint Mary's Press is excited to introduce a new resource to assist Catholic schools in daily prayer during the season of Lent. Keeping Time: Praying Lent Throughout the School Day is an amazing resources that provides daily prayers, centered on the Scriptures, for each day and class period of the Lenten season. Each school day during the Lenten season is presented with a Scripture verse and 8 short prayers, one for each class period of the day. Using these prayers at the start of each class period over the course the day students and facility will discover a deep and varied Lenten prayer experience.

You can find the prayers for Ash Wednesday from Keeping Time: Praying Lent Throughout the School Day at http://www.smp.org/resourcepage.cfm?article=552
