Areopagus Steps
About this image
These are the steps to the top of the Areopagus, the hill dedicated to Ares, the god of war. The Book of Acts tells us that Saint Paul made his famous speech about the "unknown God" here (see Acts 17:16-34). Always the passionate evangelizer, Saint Paul uses elements from Greek culture in an attempt to win their hearts and minds. What cultural elements must we appeal to reach hearts and minds today?
